Choosing a dance studio is about more than finding a class—it's about finding a place where your child will feel welcomed, encouraged, and inspired. At the Stafford Dance Academy, we believe every dancer deserves to grow in confidence while receiving quality instruction in a positive, family-friendly environment.

Whether this is your child's very first dance class or they're continuing their dance journey, we're honored you're considering becoming part of the SDA family.

Is My Child Ready for Dance?

The short answer? Probably!

Children don't need previous dance experience to begin. Our classes are designed to meet dancers where they are and help them build confidence one step at a time.

Dance may be a great fit if your child:

Loves to move to music
Enjoys imaginative play
Is beginning to follow simple directions
Is excited to make new friends
Wants to learn something new

Don't worry if your child is shy or has never taken a dance class before. Many of our dancers begin with little or no experience.

Which Class Is Right for My Child?

We've carefully designed our programs to support dancers at every stage of their journey:

Ages 2–5

Primary Ballet & Tap and Primary Creative Movement –

Kindergarten & 1st Grade

What Happens at the First Class?

We know trying something new can feel exciting—and maybe a little nerve-wracking! Our instructors are experienced in helping new dancers feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door.

Here's what you can expect:

✔ Arrive about 5–10 minutes early.

✔ Meet your instructor.

✔ Get settled into class.

✔ Learn basic dance skills in a fun, encouraging environment.

✔ Leave with a smile!

Parents of younger dancers are welcome to wait in the lobby while class is in session.

What Should My Child Wear?

Proper dance wear helps dancers move safely and allows instructors to see proper alignment.

Most classes require:

Dance attire or comfortable athletic clothing
Hair secured away from the face
Appropriate dance shoes for the class
A labeled water bottle

Specific dress code requirements can be found in your registration confirmation.

Parent FAQ

Can my child try a class first?

Yes! We encourage new families to schedule a trial class when space is available.

Does my child need dance experience?

Not at all! Many of our students are brand new to dance.

What if my child is shy?

That's perfectly okay. Our instructors specialize in helping children feel comfortable and confident at their own pace.

Can parents watch class?

To minimize distractions, parents do not observe regular classes.

What if we miss a class?

Please notify the studio if your dancer will be absent. Make-up classes are offered only at the discretion of the studio and are not guaranteed.

How do I register?

Registration is completed online through Studio Pro.

Recital Information

Our annual spring recital is a celebration of everything our dancers have learned throughout the season. Every class has the opportunity to perform in a fun, professional production that gives dancers the chance to build confidence and create lasting memories.

Recital information—including costumes, important dates, dress rehearsal, tickets, and fees—is shared throughout the season with participating families.
